She was accepted into Seattle Grace’s Surgical Residency Program, choosing Seattle Grace over Massachusetts General Hospital. She was assigned to surgical resident Cristina Yang. Lexie was considered the best of the interns https://loveexamined.net/ and she even won the intern competition set up by Izzie. She babysat Zola while Meredith and Derek went out on Valentine’s Day and presumably other various times. Lexie also referred to Zola as her “favorite little niece”.
‘Grey’s Anatomy’: The Biggest Cast Exits
Mark decided to move on anyway and started looking for a house but Lexie told him he couldn’t make her feel guilty. Shortly after Arizona moved to Africa, Callie started sleeping with Mark. Callie got pregnant with Mark’s baby and Mark decided he wanted to be part of this baby’s life, because he didn’t have the chance with his other daughter, Sloan. When Arizona came back to Seattle Grace Mercy West, she and Callie got into a car accident.
It’s tricky because so much of the way this relationship — a major one for the series — ended was mostly an “it is what it is” situation. Justin Chambers abruptly left the series in season 16 and there were only so many ways to write off his character. Knowing that, however, didn’t make it any easier to see him ditch some well-earned character development and the wife he promised to always be there for in order to start a life with Izzie Stevens (!!). Alex and Jo weathered so much together and it seemed like they were fighting against all odds for a happy ending. These two abandoned souls who found one another seemed poised to become a long-term, foundational Grey’s couple. Who did not tear up during Jo’s “you are my home and you are my heart” proposal?
Fans mourned the life they could have led together, as they had only declared their true feelings right at the end. In a way, seeing Lexie and Mark side by side in the afterlife, or even just in Meredith’s imagination, is the happy ending these characters deserved. While working with Mark Sloan, she developed an attraction, intensified by Derek’s ban on them going out. Mark himself was initially reluctant out of loyalty to Derek, as she was the sister of his best friend’s wife and their age gap. One night, Lexie went to his hotel room, stripped and says “teach me”, they began a secret relationship. They grew close very quickly and Mark developed true feelings for her, but Lexie was tired of the secrecy and put their relationship on hold.
In the sixth-season finale, a gunman commits mass murder at the hospital. In the aftermath of the shooting, Lexie has a nervous breakdown and Mark has her committed to the psychiatric unit. Their friendship is strained, however Lexie softens towards him when she learns that he is still in love with her. As Lexie goes to talk to Mark about him still being in love with her, she sees Mark entering his apartment with Derek’s sister Amelia, kissing her and ultimately sleeping with her.
What happens to Cristina Yang?
Soon, she went to Seattle Grace for her residency in hopes of meeting her. While Meredith did not appreciate Lexie’s presence at first, over time, Meredith eventually tolerated her and accepted her as a sister. Lexie also confronted Meredith about her mistreatment of her on quite a few occasions, all with the good intentions of letting Meredith get to know her.
Lexie Grey comes onto the scene as a surgical resident who also happens to be Meredith Grey’s half-sister. From the moment that Lexie comes to the hospital, many fans wondered who and are she was going to get in a relationship with. At first, she had a pretty big crush on George, but that didn’t ever really go anywhere. After the shooting at the hospital, Mark took care of Lexie and expressed his desire to marry her. However, Callie, who was also involved in a romantic relationship with Mark at the time, persuaded him not to propose to Lexie.
Jackson had initially been interested in neurosurgery, but later switched to plastics, much to his mother’s chagrin. After Mark and Lexie’s relationship fell apart, he began a sexual relationship with cardiothoracic surgeon Teddy Altman, despite the fact she was in love with their SGH’s trauma surgeon, Owen Hunt. They had a few weeks of dating, which seemed to be going well. Mark later slept with Reed Adamson, as he and Teddy were not exclusively dating. There was no official breakup but they both stopped seeing each other.
Bailey and Ben
When we last saw Meredith Grey, she was fighting for her life on a ventilator in a hospital room, suffering from the effects of COVID-19. Back on the beach, Mark tells Meredith that it’s “nice being able to talk” with her. He admits that he spends “a fair amount” of time trying to talk to people like Callie, Arizona, and Sofia. Other times, he hangs out and just watches Sofia grow. “When you love someone you tell them,” Mark stresses. This fundamental difference ends up being the straw that breaks the camel’s back.
April Kepner and Matthew Taylor
Mark told Mer that he often yelled as best he could at his loved ones to wake up, not waste a moment. Then he gave them credit for coming up with the idea. Later, Lexie challenged Mer to find things, even in a pandemic, to enjoy. Stuff like little Bailey face-planting in his birthday cake (and Zola laughing so hard at it that she peed her pants). Wow, some judgy comments here – especially given it’s about a pair of fictional characters.
